EXCERPTS FROM THE HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK ASSESSMENT

  • The danger of exposure to inks: The use of inks in the printing industry results in the emission of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). These VOCs affect certain organs (eyes, throat, lungs, etc.). The risk arises mainly when inks evaporate during high-speed printing, drying or mixing. Possible damage includes irritation, heart problems, nausea, headaches and cancer.

  • The danger of exposure to color pigments: Using color pigments can expose you to the substances they release. The risk is greatest when using color pigments. Possible damage includes skin damage, conjunctival lesions and cancer.

  • Exposure to fount solutions: Fount solutions contain isopropyl alcohol, which evaporates and can come into contact with employees. The risk is mainly present during the operation of offset printing machines. Possible injuries include eye irritation and respiratory tract irritation.

  • Dangers associated with the use of cleaning products: Products used in the printing industry are made up of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as saturated and unsaturated chlorinated solvents. The risk arises mainly from the use of cleaning products. Possible damage includes irritation, heart problems, nausea, headaches and cancer.

  • The danger of using glues: Glues used in the printing industry produce acetic acid vapors that can be inhaled when the glue is overheated. The risk arises when using hotmelt adhesives, particularly when these are heated above the normal operating temperature. Possible damage includes respiratory and eye irritation, as well as the development of cancer over the long term.

  • The danger of being caught, pinched or crushed by printing machines: Printing machines have moving or protruding parts that can be dangerous. The risk is present when using printing machines. Possible injuries include traumatic injuries to upper limbs, severed fingers and cuts.

Recommendation
Jean Claude Parmentier

"The document, of high quality and customizable, is an excellent starting point for a topic that often takes up a lot of time. Thank you also for listening to our needs and the customer follow-up!"

"High-quality service at a very competitive price - the company fully adapted to my business and its multiple risks. This document was also reviewed by the labor inspection, which approved the quality of the work. I recommend."

I recommend the occupational risk assessment documents for their ease of use (Excel workbook) and the relevance of risks listed by profession.
